  1. I am a newbie to internet marketing and I have been very reluctant to get involved in the internet marketing niche because as you stated in your presentation, I don’t know enough yet to be marketing to that niche. It sounds like what you will be offering will make it much easier to actually get involved in this niche, even for a newbie like me. I can’t wait to learn more about your upcoming offer.

  2. Hi Paul,

that was a great video. Completely different to what one is usually confronted with. I’m really impressed how all the information given by you was in such an honest and easy to understand way. I know that good PLR can be hard to find, and probably most of us had already one ore more bad experiences with it. If only some of the Internet Marketers would watch this as well, it might change the Internet marketing niche a bit for the better.

    Thanks,
    Hans

  3. Nice stuff. I guess having a list of 125K buying leads is a real handy thing. I certainly wish I had a list like that. Good to see you’re having this course for people. I’d certainly like to see something or at least an affiliate product to those 40K people. Funny thing is a lot of people just dont have a product to start them off. Even PLR products are not as good as something of your own.

  4. I have been receiving Eric’s information for a while now and thought that he was one of the few Honest guys out there. There are others of course and they all seem to congregate together which must show that there is a common thread. Maybe they should be called The Unreal Guys…I look forward to the other video’s from Eric and Jeff

  5. Hi Paul, I watched your video and I think you really gave us a lot of good stuff and knowledge that we can use in our internet marketing businesses. I look forward to see what the next video
will be like. Keep the good work!!

  6. Hello Paul,
First, I am sorry to hear about your experience with the ad-swap scammer. Thanks for sharing your story and showing us how you’re moving on in a positive way.

Thank you for focusing on ethics in your video. Trying to figure out how to do IM ethically has been a major stumbling block for me. Until very recently, I wouldn’t have dreamed of jumping into the IM niche for some of the reasons you mentioned.

Congrats on achieving the life you want and on Baby #3!

  7. Hi Paul…
Congratulations on your excellent efforts! Over the past several years I’ve learned A LOT from you…and have always been impressed by your sincerity and willingness to help whenever asked. My best,
    Rich

  8. Hi Paul,
I have been following you for the last couple of years since starting in IM and I have bought a couple of your products. It has taken the last 2 years to shake out who are the good guys and bad guys in the IM business. I have felt that you, Eric and Jeff are in that group. There are a few more that I trust and have received some excellent training from.
It is funny since the flood of $37 crap products on Clickbank now everyone is claiming to be a “good guy” and saying how terrible these products are and what a dark place Internet Marketing is in today. However these same guys are promoting this crap everyday to their 50K subscriber lists. To be honest in the last year I have received an increase in promotional emails from you pushing other peoples stuff. I understand this is a business and everyone is in it to make money but when you hear everyone talk about “the money is in the list” and anytime I need some money I “just push the button” (meaning promoting to their list) to get that money for a vacation etc it puts into question their motives. It is not to add value to their subscribers. Most of them could care less what they are promoting.
Yes you might say I am in this camp since I of course would love to get a solo ad to your list. I would hope however I would have a quality product that really adds value to promote.
Don’t get me wrong, I think you have put out some great stuff and I loved the webinars where you and Jeff have developed your products. I am just venting a little. Looking forward to more info.

    1. Hello Rick,

Thank you for your comments and interesting points. To be honest I wanted to make sure we get one thing out in the open and clear. We are not saying that all $37 products that are on Clickbank are garbage and nor are we saying that people who promote to you are not honest people. The problem we have with our current industry is many (not all) of the products over promise and under deliver severely. Many of them don’t even offer anything remotely close to what they say as in the “push button” software that doesn’t even work. Another big problem is people will promote any of these products either just to make a buck or just because that other person promoted for them. They don’t take into consideration how this would affect the people on their list.

As you have noticed from being on my list I do promote other people’s products. In fact I probably promote a little bit more than Eric or Jeff. Honestly though I carefully consider the offers I promote before I push them. I will admit in the past year I made a few mistakes which I apologized to my list. I promote things that didn’t live up to their billing or I lazily pushed the offer out without looking deep at it. I paid the consequences for those moments, admitted them to my list, and improved how I evaluate offers. If you go back and look at the offers I promote I very rarely if ever promoted a product that everyone else was promoting at the same time. I started seeking out products that match what my list appreciates more. I also started doing either video reviews or written reviews of the products I promoted. I decided to give my subscribers full disclosure on products before I pushed them. I either get a review copy or buy a product or software before I promote it to my list. I also carefully consider if that product would fit my list.

I have turned down many JV requests from people and I know Jeff and Eric have done the same. There are many times I chose not to promote a hot product and it probably cost me their support down the road. Honestly with a list of 40,000 people there is no way that I can match up my offers with every person on the list at once. Although we all do our best sometimes offers don’t fit with everyone. In fact I make it a point to be honest about this when I send out my offers and tell people to consider it only if they are in this niche.

Also I would be doing a horrible disservice to my subscribers if I only promoted things which I created personally. The reasoning is simply I can’t be an expert at all things, but I can find someone else that knows a little bit more than me on certain subjects. If their product meets the quality guidelines I look for in a product and it fits what people on my list are asking about I will promote it. Here is a recent example and one you are probably venting about. I promoted a $47 Clickbank product that talked about working with the new Facebook fan pages and included the templates to quickly make clean looking fan pages. I bought this product for my needs and after reviewing it and learning from it I decided this would also be worth recommending to my list to those that want to know more about this. I didn’t really buy this product with the intention of pushing it, but after buying it and using it I thought it was worth it to them to invest in as well if Facebook pages was something they were struggling with or interested in at the moment.

Seriously though the “money is in the list”, and when you build up your list in the chosen niche market you pursue the money will follow. Nearly every major business out there builds email lists. I ate at a Texas Roadhouse recently and they even offered me something free to sign up for their email list which sends me promotions and specials related to their restaurants. Fortune 500 companies build lists even and building a list to make money from doesn’t make anybody a bad person. Neither does promoting to that list.

One of the biggest mistakes I made when I first built my list was worrying too much about people getting offended because I emailed them more than 1 time in a week. I would only promote offers once or promote a few things. I made some money, but then Jeff and some other people I was close to in the market encouraged me to promote more and I did and what resulted was a tripling of my income. What I didn’t do was start promoting garbage though. I still reviewed products carefully, but now I am super careful about what I promote because I do believe in adding value to the subscribers.

As you know and pointed out I also provide a lot of value to my list through webinars, PDF’s, content emails, etc. I agree though I need to do more of these things. There is always room to improve.

This is a long winded response, but I want to use it as a learning approach for everyone. The money is in the list for sure, but how you use that list is what is important. If you take care in your product reviews and in what you offer people you will see success. Further promoting other people’s products doesn’t make anybody a bad person. In fact affiliate marketing is a great way to make money, but build that list so you can make money as an affiliate first. Also only promote stuff that you have tried out and believe in.

I hope this helps shed some light on my thought process now and explains why you see offers. I am the first to tell you that I can always improve how I run my business. I am completely real and honest and will tell everyone that I am not perfect by any means. I hope that just encourages everyone more though because you don’t have to be perfect to succeed at this game.

Thanks Rick for being honest in your comments!

      Take care,

      Paul Counts

  9. Nice video Paul. While I totally agree that email list building and product creation are the best online business model I think there is another element to it. You still need to be able to ‘market’ your products to new audiences and attract partners. I have produced a number of original products and build a list at the same time. But I am hopeless at the marketing aspect of it all. While I have a good relationship with many of my subscribers I struggle to market my products more broadly – so the number of subscribers ‘slowly’ increases over time.

Look forward to the rest of your videos

    1. Hello Peter,

This is a great comment. Thank you! You do need to be able to ‘market’ your products for sure. There are many stages to making money online. The important first elements is the list building and product creation so you can do the part to market yourself and your products better. Hopefully the next few videos will shed some light on this and you are in the right place learning from us to learn how to market and position your products!

      Thanks,

      Paul

  10. I’ve followed Eric for some time. He’s obviously attracted cohorts of equal integrity in his IM ventures. I’m maybe even more unique than the book I’ve authored and am selling over the Internet. I’m 75. Not many my age even know how to run a computer let alone have learned how to make web sites. I’ve made 4 of them now, but I’ve discovered getting eyeballs to them is the real challenge. I also discovered early on that there are a lot of scam artists out there…preying on peoples’ urgent and heart-felt desires to make a little money via the Internet. After a very successful career producing TV shows, I was introduced to ‘E-mini trading’ back in early 2002. Two weeks later, I knew I had found what I want to do for the rest of my life….trade e-minis for a couple hours each morning, then help others get started. So many ‘please teach me’ requests that it inspired me to write the [first] E-mini trading book. E-mini trading is the most solid and viable ‘home business idea’ I’ve ever seen; Learn how to do it and you’ve got a new set of skills with which one can make a very good living for the rest of one’s life. Interestingly enough— no one seems to have even heard of ‘e-minis’! I tell folks it’s the stock market’s ‘best-kept Insider secret’, ever! I have so much fun watching how excited people get when they begin to catch the vision of how they can make $500 a day …in just a couple of hours when the market opens each morning. I’m preparing a special webinar presentation, hoping other successful Internet Marketer’s will want to co-host a webinar with me while we show their ‘list’ all the exciting possibilities from learning about e-mini trading. I sell my book for $39 (digital) or $47 hard copy….with a 50% commission for the co-host.

I’d love to do something with you that you would be proud to invite your list to explore.

    Thanks for considering me.
    Mel Hardman
